In Memory of Ryan Jones
In memory of RYAN JONES (1978-2008), Recreation, Parks, and Tourism student, who was killed in a motorcycle accident on July 19th, 2008: Ryan, a May 2008 graduate, was the department undergraduate honors convocation representative and one of the first recipients of our Internship Scholarship. Our department chair, Dr. Jim Murphy expressed his initial feelings as follows: “I am deeply saddened to hear about the death of Ryan. He was a special person. I had the privilege of supervising him on his internship with the Golden Gate Raptor Conservancy. He did a brilliant job and his work was ground breaking. I have worked with many students over a 40 year period and Ryan clearly is among the very best individuals I had the privilege of ever working with and trusting his caring capacity and commitment to improve the quality of life for everyone to the future of our profession”. We all have our own sentiments to convey and will miss him deeply.
